YSG 1

YSG 1 Presentations and Corresponding Tournament Events

  • Hello My Name Is - Platform
  • Activity #1 - Impromptu
  • Favorite Bible Verse - Platform
  • Storytelling - Storytelling

NOTE: YSG 1 presentations may be used in YSG 2 events if speakers have:

  • just completed YSG 1
  • have not used that presentation in a tournament the previous year
  • adhere to the rules and requirements of that YSG 2 event.

YSG 2

Eligibility

  • Completed YSG 1 by tournament
  • YSG 2 speakers may NOT participate in YSG 1 events.

YSG 2 Presentations and Corresponding Tournament Events

  • To Teach - Informative Speaking, News Broadcast
  • To Delight - Literary Interpretation

NOTE: YSG 1 presentations may be used in YSG 2 events if speakers have just completed YSG 1 and they adhere to the rules and requirements of that event. Check individual speech Overviews for specific information.

  • There is no event for the Persuasive speeches from the older version of YSG 2. It is to be coached in chapter and then presented in the community.

YSG 3

Eligibility

  • Completed YSG 2 by tournament
  • YSG 3 speakers may also participate in YSG 2 events.

YSG 3 Presentations and Corresponding Tournament Events

  • For Such a Time as This - Informative Speaking, Computer-Assisted Advocacy, and Audio Podcast
  • To Know Wisdom - Informative Speaking, Computer-Assisted Advocacy, Literary Interpretation, Cultural Storytelling, and Audio Podcast
  • There is no event to practice the Testimony speech. It is to receive feedback in chapter and then presented in the community.

GUILD

Eligibility

  • 13 - 18 years old
  • Presented Speech #10 and applied for the Young Speakers Guild
  • Guild speakers may also participate in YSG 2 and 3 events

Student Evaluators

Student Evaluators provide written critique to students participating in YSG 1 events. May not participate in YSG 1 events. 

Eligibility

  • Have attended two training events, one within the past 12 months
  • At least 15 years of age by date of event
  • Have competed in ICCFS within the past 12 months
  • Compete in minimum of YSG 2 level speech events or higher at this tournament
  • Have spoken with your Chapter Sponsor and received their oral recommendation

Objectives

  • To mentor peers in effective oral communication skills
  • To deliver positive and constructive critique
  • To learn time management
  • To enhance written communication

How to Register

  • You'll indicate on the registration form that you are available to serve as Student Evaluator. 
  • Before the tournament date, you must complete the Student Evaluator Training.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Students serving as a Student Evaluator should NOT register for any YSG 1 events.
  • Students will be evaluated on their feedback using this criteria: Student Evaluator Ballot

Time-keepers

Another way to serve is by keeping time for speakers in certain events.

ICCFS Young Speakers Guild Award


Description

The highest level of recognition at ICCFS tournaments will be given to eligible Guild Inductees competing at ICCFS tournaments locally, nationally and internationally. 

Purpose 

To recognize and award Guild Inductees continuing to • pursue excellence in communication • grow in leadership training • exhibit Christ-like character and • invest in the lives of those following in their steps. 

Eligibility

To be eligible, a Guild Inductee must be:

  • in good standing
  • a Student Evaluator or Student Evaluator in Training at the qualifying ICCFS Tournament
  • competing in a minimum of 3 speech events, 1 of which must be a Guild level event.

Calculation

Award will be given to the highest ranking Guild Inductee(s) based on the following:

Speakers receive points based on room rank for YSG 2 and YSG 3 events each round:

  • 1st place – 5 points
  • 2nd place – 4 points
  • 3rd place – 3 points
  • 4th place – 2 points
  • 5th and below – 1 point

Ranking for Guild events are more heavily weighted.

Ranking Points are increased by 1.5 for each round.

Round Table is an additional value.

Team Members will receive points based on percentages of top team members.

  • 0-10% – 20 points
  • 11-25% - 15 points
  • 26-40% - 10 points
  • 41-60% - 5 points
  • 61- 100% - 0 points

Facilitators will receive points based on total ratings greater than or equal to the percentages of top team members.

  • 0-10% – 20 points
  • 11-25% - 15 points
  • 26-40% - 10 points
  • 41-60% - 5 points
  • 61- 100% - 3 points
